
In the first Amrit (Royal) Snan of the Maha Kumbh on Tuesday, 35 million devotees took a dip at the Sangam. The royal bath started at 6 AM and ended at 6 PM. During this time, saints from all 13 akhadas, including the Juna Akhada, took their bath.
After the bath, people began returning from Prayagraj. There was heavy crowd on the roads leading to the railway station and bus stand. The Prayagraj railway station was overcrowded with no space to stand. People were held back in the hall.
They are being sent to platforms according to their train schedules. Railway PRO Amit Singh informed that since morning, 55 special Maha Kumbh trains have been dispatched.
Since Monday night, four people have died due to heart attacks. Three were at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) hospital, and one was at the Mela Central Hospital.
Rest houses and hotels were full, and people set up camps on the streets. When people realized that it might not be possible for them to leave Prayagraj today, they headed towards the rest houses. However, all the rest houses were full. Thousands of people were seen in front of hotels and rest houses, and many settled on the streets.
On Monday, 16.5 million people took a dip at the Sangam during the first bath on Poush Purnima. On Tuesday, 35 million people bathed at the Sangam. In total, 51.5 million people have bathed in the Sangam over the past two days.
Saints, chanting “Har Har Mahadev,” arrived at the ghats at 6 AM for the Amrit Snan, creating an extraordinary sight. Sannyasis, holding swords, tridents, and damarus, arrived at the ghats chanting “Har Har Mahadev.” For the first time in the Maha Kumbh, the term “Amrit Snan” was used instead of “Shahi Snan,” a proposal made by the akhadas to change the name.
