While narrating the story of Lord Ram’s exile, Swami Rambhadracharya Maharaj said – No one on this entire earth has ever been or will ever be as devoted to parents as Ram Lalla. The foundation of renunciation and brotherly love that he established is still a living example for the whole world.

“Mother holds a greater place than the father,” he said. When Ram was ordered to go into exile, he sought his father’s permission to leave for the forest. In response, King Dasharatha told him to seek permission from his mother Kaushalya, saying that the mother holds a place greater than the father. Therefore, Lord Ram sought the permission of his mother Kaushalya to go to the forest. Kaushalya then told him that the stepmother holds ten times more importance than a biological mother, and thus, he should seek permission for exile from Queen Kaikeyi.
